After reading Jon Gordon's "20 Tips for a Positive New Year" I was inspired to rethink my resolutions for 2016. For a number of years I've had the typical new year resolutions: lose weight, eat healthier, and exercise more. Because I'm a book nerd I also set a reading goal each year. These goals are generic and rather dull, but they are still good ones so I'll probably repeat them for 2016.

This coming year, 2016, is my 50th year on the planet. Maybe the thought of turning 50 has caused me to reflect more on who I am, where I am, and what adventure I want to go on next. Of course, this also could be the definition of mid-life crisis but if it is then so be it!

To start off my 50th year I plan to follow several of Jon Gordon's 20 Tips for a Positive New Year. Of his 20 tips the one that most resonates with me on the Eve of 2016 is, "Trust that everything happens for a reason and expect good things to come out of challenging experiences."

The year 2015 presented a number of unexpected challenges some of which were painful and confusing. Those challenges led to personal and career decisions that were not even on the horizon at the start of 2015. In 2015, I learned to trust that good things will come from the challenges.

So welcome 2016! Whatever challenges you have in store for me, I'm ready! Bring it on!
